Small devices. Big difference.

Are you ready to protect your hearing with custom earplugs and earmolds? We have clinics located in Seattle (Northgate) • Bremerton • Olympia • Gig Harbor

Why Custom Beats Generic

Consistent protection. A proper seal provides more predictable attenuation than foam or one-size-fits-all tips. We verify the fit and show you the correct insertion so the protection works in the real world, not just on a box label.

All-day comfort. Custom pieces follow your ear shape, so they stay put under helmets, at the gym, on stage, or while sleeping. Less pressure, less fidgeting, better compliance.

Right tool for the job. Choose filtered musician plugs for clear, even reduction; solid plugs for maximum noise; swim molds to keep water out; sleep plugs for side sleepers; impulse options for the range; and communication-ready plugs for work.

Safer for sensitive ears. Materials and styles are selected for your ear canal, skin, and use case. We’ll avoid options that irritate skin and pick the style that seals without hot spots.

Better hearing-aid performance. For patients who need earmolds with hearing aids, custom coupling improves retention, reduces feedback, and supports the acoustic settings your audiologist programs.

Real-world results. Protection depends on fit and insertion. We do a seal check, review use and care, and set expectations so your plugs work where it matters—on the job, on stage, in the pool, or at home.

What We Make

Musician earplugs (filtered, “flat” attenuation)

Keep the mix clear while lowering volume. Interchangeable filters in 9/15/25 dB so you can match the stage, the pit, or rehearsal. Great for band practice, orchestral work, DJs, and FOH techs.

Solid earplugs (maximum attenuation)

When noise is constant or extreme, solid plugs give a stronger overall reduction. Ideal for shops, yardwork, construction, motor sports, and anyone who just wants quiet.

Sleep plugs

Soft, low-profile, and shaped for side sleepers. Reduce snoring noise and household sounds without the discomfort of bulky foam tips.

Swim molds

Seal out water for swimmers, surfers, and patients with PE tubes or a history of ear issues. Durable, buoyant materials and bright color options for easy spotting.

Shooter/impulse earplugs

Protection for blast noise with situational awareness intact. Passive and electronic options available—good for the range, hunting, and law enforcement training.

Industrial / communication plugs

Protection integrated with downleads or in-ear comms so you can hear radio traffic clearly while staying within safe exposure limits.

Custom tips/sleeves for earbuds and IEM tips

Better seal and comfort for stage monitors and consumer earbuds (e.g., AirPods Pro). We’ll take impressions and build tips that snap onto your existing earphones.

Hearing-aid earmolds

Custom earmolds for behind-the-ear and select RIC setups to improve retention, reduce feedback, and support precise programming. (We do not make custom RIC sleeves.)

The Fitting Process

1. Conversation and ear check

Tell us how you’ll use your plugs or molds: music, sleep, work, water, or the range. We perform otoscopy to confirm the ear is healthy for impressions.

ear check for earmolds and earplugs

2. Precise ear impressions

We use traditional silicone impressions for an accurate canal shape and proper insertion depth. No in-clinic 3D scanning is required to get an exact fit.

3. Design choices

We’ll help you choose material (silicone or acrylic), style (canal, half, skeleton, canal lock, full shell), and any extras (cords, handles). Musician plugs get filter selection (9/15/25 dB) based on your environment.

4. Lab fabrication

We partner primarily with Starkey, and also with Westone and Microsonic. Typical turnaround is about 2 weeks. Rush service (3–5 days) is available on many models.

5. Fit and seal check

At pickup, we verify comfort and seal, review insertion and removal, and walk you through care. If you brought earbuds or IEMs for custom tips, we will confirm the snap-fit and retention.

6. Follow-through

Most customs need no scheduled follow-up. If anything feels off, call us. We offer a 90-day remake policy for fit/comfort issues. Reorders from impressions on file are usually possible for up to 5 years with the same manufacturer; if your weight or ear shape has changed, we may recommend new impressions.

Health notes

We defer impressions for active infection or very recent ear surgery. For patients with perforations or tubes, we’ll advise on the safest options and proceed when appropriate for protection or hearing-aid coupling.

  • Canal/half-shell: low-profile, easy under helmets and headsets.
  • Skeleton / full shell: stronger retention and seal when you move a lot.
  • Canal lock: extra hold for active users or curved canals.
  • Add-ons: removable cords, grips/handles for easier insertion and removal.

Color and finish

  • Solids, clear, and two- or three-color swirls.
  • Glitter option for visibility or fun.
  • Left/right markers for quick ID.

Musician filters

  • Interchangeable 9 / 15 / 25 dB filters.
  • Even attenuation so music stays natural.

Labs we use

  • Primarily Starkey.
  • Also, Westone and Microsonic for select builds.
  • Choices depend on the product, material, and turnaround you need.

Reorders and records

  • We keep impressions on file. Reorders are usually possible for up to 5 years with the same manufacturer.

Ready for Customized Earmolds and Earplugs

Are you ready to match earmold and earplug materials and style to your exact use case?

NRR, Fit, and Real-World Protection

What NRR means

The Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is a lab number. It estimates how much sound a protector reduces in controlled testing. Real life is different. Movement, insertion depth, and ear shape all change results. Expect less reduction in the field than on the label.

Fit beats numbers

A perfect seal usually protects better than a higher NRR with a poor fit. Custom pieces help because they sit at the right depth and stay put while you move, talk, or sing. We check the seal at pickup and show you how to insert them the same way every time.

How to insert (quick guide)

  1. With clean hands, gently pull the ear up and back.
  2. Insert the tip toward the nose, not straight in.
  3. Twist to seat. You should feel a uniform seal.
  4. Do a quick check: your own voice should sound fuller, and outside sound should drop evenly.

If the plug creeps out or creates a hot spot, tell us. Small adjustments make a big difference.

Filtered vs solid

  • Filtered musician plugs: even reduction across pitches so music stays natural. Choose 9 dB for practice or teaching, 15 dB for most stages, 25 dB for very loud sets.
  • Solid plugs: maximum overall reduction for constant noise, heavy tools, or when you just need quiet.

Impulse and communication use

  • Shooter/impulse plugs reduce blast peaks while preserving awareness between shots.
  • Communication plugs pair protection with in-ear comms so you can hear radio traffic clearly without removing protection.

Workplace safety note

Some custom products carry an NRR. Others (like many musician filters) list filter attenuation rather than an OSHA NRR. For regulated job sites, follow your employer’s hearing conservation rules and use approved protection. We’ll help you choose the right option for both safety and the way you work.

Care, Lifespan, and Replacement

Daily care

Wipe the customs with a soft, dry cloth after use. A quick clean keeps oils off the surface and preserves the seal. If you see debris at the tip, use the supplied tool gently. Don’t dig.

Deep clean (as needed)

For silicone pieces, a mild, non-moisturizing soap and lukewarm water work. Rinse well and let them air-dry fully before use. For acrylic, use the clinic’s recommended wipes. Skip alcohol and harsh cleaners; they can harden or cloud materials.

Ear hygiene matters

A clean ear canal makes a better seal. If you’re prone to wax buildup, set up simple maintenance with us. Hearing-aid earmolds may also need wax guards or vent cleaning. We’ll show you how.

Storage and heat

Store the customs in the case they came with. Keep them out of direct sun, hot cars, and steamy bathrooms. High heat can warp the shape over time. Pets love to chew earplugs—case closed, problem avoided.

Typical lifespan

Most customs last several years with normal use. Silicone stays comfortable and flexible. Acrylic keeps a crisp shape and is easy to insert. Heavy daily wear, sweat, chemicals, or rough handling shorten lifespan. Plan on earlier replacement for sleep and industrial use.

When to remake

If the seal slips, the fit feels different, or you need to push harder than usual, it’s time to check. Dental work, weight changes, or simple aging can change canal shape. Musician filters still work, but the shell may need a new build to hold them properly.

Remake policy

If fit or comfort isn’t right, contact us. We offer a 90-day remake for adjustments. There isn’t a loss or damage policy, so treat customs like prescription eyewear.

Reorders

We keep your impressions on file and can usually reorder for up to 5 years with the same manufacturer. If your ears or goals have changed, new impressions yield better results.

Follow-up

Noise plugs and sleep plugs don’t require scheduled follow-ups. Still, call if anything feels off. For hearing-aid earmolds, we’ll adjust vents or tubing as part of routine care.

Payments and benefits

Most patients use HSA/FSA funds for customs. We don’t list pricing online; we’ll review options and costs before you decide.

Special Considerations

Hearing-aid users

Custom earmolds improve retention, reduce feedback, and support precise programming. Bring your devices to the appointment so we can check tubing, vents, and wax guards. If your listening needs change, we can adjust vents or remake the mold to match.

Musicians and audio pros

Go for filtered plugs so vocals and instruments stay natural. We’ll demo 9/15/25 dB filters and help you choose levels for rehearsal, stage, or pit. If you use stage monitors or consumer earbuds, ask about custom tips for a better seal and lower listening levels.

Industrial and first responders

Protection must work with helmets, glasses, and radios. We fit solid plugs or communication-ready options with downleads so you can hear the right voices without removing protection. Tell us your exposure levels, and we’ll align choices with workplace policies.

Shooters and range staff

Choose impulse plugs to cut blast peaks while keeping awareness between shots. Many shooters still double up with muffs for long sessions. Bring your gear to the fitting so we can confirm comfort under muffs and eye protection.

custom earplugs made for swimming

Swimmers and water exposure

Custom swim plugs help keep water out and protect sensitive ears. We’ll review your ear history and confirm impressions are appropriate if you have perforations or tubes. Bright colors make plugs easy to spot at the pool.

Sleep and travel

Sleep plugs should be soft and low profile. Side-sleepers benefit from silicone with a small grip for easy removal. For frequent flyers, customs reduce engine noise so you can rest without cranking on headphones.

Kids and growing ears

Minimum age for most customs is 5. Children’s ear canals change with growth, so expect more frequent remakes. For pediatric hearing-aid users who need earmolds, we set a schedule that keeps up with fit.

Narrow, curved, or sensitive canals

Some ears need canal locks or specific materials for comfort. If you have eczema or sensitive skin, we’ll choose finishes and cleaning routines that reduce irritation.

Medical timing and safety

We defer impressions with active infection or very recent ear surgery. If you have pain, drainage, or sudden hearing changes, we’ll triage first and coordinate care. Once the ear is stable, we proceed with the safest impression method and product choice.

FAQs About Earwax Removal

Do you do 3D ear scanning?

No. We use traditional silicone ear impressions for accuracy and proper insertion depth. It’s the gold standard for most custom products.

How long do impressions take, and who performs them?

Plan for 20–30 minutes. Impressions are taken by a Doctor of Audiology or a Hearing Instrument Specialist after a quick ear check.

What filter level should I choose for musician plugs—9, 15, or 25 dB?

It depends on your stage and role. 9 dB works for lower-volume rehearsal or teaching, 15 dB fits most live sets, and 25 dB is best for very loud stages. We’ll help you choose and can swap filters later.

Do you make electronic shooter plugs?

Yes. We offer passive and electronic shooter options. Bring your range gear to the fitting so we can confirm comfort under muffs and eye protection.

Can I get custom tips for my IEMs or earbuds?

Yes—custom tips/sleeves for stage IEMs and many consumer earbuds. If you order third-party IEMs, we can do impressions only for that maker’s lab.

What’s the turnaround time? Do you offer rush?

Typical build time is about two weeks. Rush is available on many models in 3–5 days.

What’s your remake policy?

If fit or comfort isn’t right, contact us. We offer a 90-day remake. There is no loss or damage policy.

Can you reorder from impressions on file?

Usually, yes, for up to five years with the same manufacturer. If your ears or weight have changed, we may recommend new impressions for the best seal.

Do you do pediatric customs?

Minimum age for most customs is 5. Kids’ ears grow, so expect more frequent remakes. Pediatric hearing-aid earmolds follow a separate schedule.

Any reasons to delay impressions?

Yes. We defer with active infection or very recent ear surgery. If you have a perforation or tubes, we’ll advise and proceed when appropriate.

Do you list prices? Can I use HSA/FSA?

We don’t post pricing online; we’ll review options and costs before you decide. HSA/FSA funds are welcome.

Which locations handle impressions and pickups?

All four: Seattle (Northgate), Bremerton, Olympia, and Gig Harbor.
